Across many communities in Tanzania, countless families struggle with poverty, unemployment, and limited economic opportunities. Women, in particular, often carry the responsibility of caring for children and supporting households while having very little access to financial resources or business opportunities.
During our community outreach activities, we met mothers working tirelessly to provide for their families but lacking the tools, knowledge, and support needed to start small income-generating activities. Some sold vegetables in small quantities, others relied on unstable daily jobs, while many had business ideas but no guidance on how to begin.
These experiences inspired Wakwetu Organization to establish the Economic Empowerment Program — a community-driven initiative focused on helping vulnerable families move from dependency to self-reliance. By equipping individuals with entrepreneurship skills and supporting small business development, we aim to restore confidence, create opportunities, and build stronger households.
