Blandina Chitala is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Wakwetu Organization, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable communities in Tanzania. Originally from Tanzania, Blandina she lived in united states for over 14 years, in Tanzania is where she pursued her education and built a deep connection with local communities.
She holds a Degree in Law and a Master’s Degree in Community Development, equipping her with both legal knowledge and practical skills to address social challenges. During her time in Tanzania, particularly in Arusha, Blandina witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by many communities—especially in areas such as education, poverty, prisons, women and children’s welfare, and environmental conservation.
Her passion for change was especially inspired by the Maasai community, where she observed a growing sense of lost hope due to poverty and limited opportunities. Motivated by these experiences, she initiated efforts to support communities through programs like tree planting, school support, church renovation, and advocacy for vulnerable groups.
In 2024, Blandina successfully registered Wakwetu Organization to formalize her mission. Although the organization is still in its early stages and facing challenges due to limited funding and donor support, she remains committed to expanding its impact and bringing sustainable change to communities in need.
Blandina continues to dedicate her life to empowering people, restoring hope, and building a better future for Tanzanian communities.
